Get Involved

Faculty

I am a member of the SDSU faculty interested in the theme of Experience Time----- There are two ways to get involved.

Option 1- Faculty Time Initiatives

  • Colleagues from across the campus have developed various faculty-centered programs related to the Common Experience for Faculty theme: time. The programs are aimed at fostering cross-disciplinary collegial community. Please see the list of planned programs here. If you have a program you wish to pursue related to the theme of time, please contact Mark Wheeler (Philosophy) or Arlette Baljon (Physics), the chief faculty organizers for the programming.

Option 2 "Experience Time" Funded Grant Projects

  • A call for proposals is announced every February for the grant funded theme projects. Awards are made for the following academic year.  However, you can propose a project at any point during the academic year by contacting the Common Experience Director- Jose Preciado at [email protected]. The theme for 2019-2020 academic year is Experience Innovation.

Option 3 Ad Hoc Common Experience

  • The subject of this year's Common Experience is (or has been) an existing component of your course. You would like to share readings or other information about how you and your students examine this subject. You can provide a reading list, suggest media and highlight your own course activities on our website through a link or we can feature it on this webpage.

  • Your research, scholarship, and or creative work is connected to the this year's Common Experience theme and you would like to have Common Experience featured with a link to this webpage.

  • By integrating the Common Experience theme in your coursework.

  • By incorporating Common Experience sponsored readings, lectures, and activities as requirements in your syllabus or as options for additional study.

  • Establish collaborative activities between your own course and courses of the 2018-19 Common Experience faculty grant awardees
